Jonny’s Italian was born from a simple idea: to create a warm, welcoming place where people can gather, relax, and enjoy beautiful food made with heart.
Jonny’s Italian is a locally owned Italian restaurant in Greta, in the heart of the Hunter Valley, NSW. We serve fresh, flavour-driven Italian food in a relaxed and welcoming space, made for locals, families, and visitors to the region.
Owner and executive chef Gabriel Rodrigues was born in Brazil and trained in Europe, working in respected kitchens including Michelin-starred restaurants. His time in Italy and Spain shaped his love for regional cooking, simple flavours, and food that brings people together. Since moving to Australia in 2014, Gabriel has worked in high-end restaurants across New South Wales and around the country, building his skills and deepening his respect for quality ingredients and seasonal produce.
In May 2025, Gabriel opened Jonny’s Italian in Greta as his first fully solo restaurant venture, with the aim of creating a place where young families, locals, and tourists alike can enjoy relaxed dining and great food without fuss. From Roman-style al taglio pizza to classic Italian favourites and seasonal specials, every dish is cooked with care, intention, and a genuine love for the craft.
We are incredibly grateful for the support of the Greta community and the wider Hunter Valley, and proud to be part of such a vibrant regional area. At Jonny’s Italian, our goal is simple: serve beautiful food, offer warm hospitality, and create a place people love to return to.
